Shift This One Belief to Heal
Shifting from a Healing Mindset to a Healing Heartset
In our journey towards healing, whether it's physical or mental, we often encounter an underlying belief that can significantly hinder our progress. This belief, though common, can undermine our good intentions and meaningful efforts to heal. As a holistic healer for highly sensitive souls, I've experienced this firsthand and want to share my insights on how to shift from an old, limiting mindset to a new, empowering "heartset" that allows us to truly receive our healing.
The Old Mindset: "There's Something Wrong with Me"
Many of us carry a deeply ingrained belief that there's something fundamentally wrong with us and that we need to be "fixed." This mindset often stems from experiences with traditional medical approaches, where the focus is on identifying and correcting problems.
My personal journey with this mindset began in my teenage years when I was diagnosed with scoliosis. As I went through various treatments, including wearing a back brace and ultimately undergoing spinal fusion surgery at 19, I internalized the message from well-meaning doctors that there was something wrong with my back that needed fixing.
This experience led me to believe that there was something wrong with me as a person. It's a belief that many of us hold, often unconsciously, and it can cast a shadow over our healing efforts.
How To Shift to a New Heartset
The journey from this limiting mindset to a more empowering one isn't always straightforward, but it's incredibly transformative. The new perspective I invite you to consider is this: you don't need to be fixed, and there is nothing wrong with you.
This doesn't mean we should ignore genuine health concerns or avoid necessary treatments. Instead, it's about recognizing that at our core, we are whole and complete. Our bodies and minds innately know how to heal. When we can truly embody this belief in our hearts, not just intellectualize it, something within us opens up, allowing us to receive our healing from a place of love and compassion.
Moving from the old mindset of "there's something wrong with me" to "I am perfect as I am" is a process. Here are two key strategies I use daily to facilitate this shift:
1. Focus on What's Right
Instead of dwelling on what you perceive as wrong, intentionally look for what is right, beautiful, and filled with grace in your life.
Start by observing the world around you. Nature provides countless examples of beauty and perfection.
Gradually shift this focus inward, recognizing the beauty and rightness within yourself.
Celebrate the parts of your body that feel good and function well, rather than fixating on perceived flaws or limitations.
In my own journey, I shifted from lamenting the movements I could no longer do after my spinal fusion to appreciating the movements I could still perform. This change in perspective even led me to become a certified yoga teacher, adapting my practice to suit my unique body.
2. Embrace the Potential for Healing
The idea of being "fixed" can feel harsh and unattainable. Instead, open yourself to the possibility of healing in ways you might not yet understand or imagine.
Recognize that you don't need to make a dramatic leap from doubt to complete certainty about your healing potential.
Be open to possibilities beyond what your rational mind can conceive.
Trust in your body's innate wisdom and its natural capacity for healing.
While I understand that my metal rods are a permanent part of me, I've made peace with this reality. At the same time, I remain open to the incredible potential my body has to heal and adapt in ways I might not have thought possible.
Practical Steps to Cultivate Your New Heartset
To help you integrate this new perspective into your daily life, consider the following practices:
Start each day by acknowledging something beautiful or right in your world.
Practice gratitude for the parts of your body and mind that are functioning well.
When you catch yourself thinking negatively about your health or body, pause and consciously shift your focus to a more positive aspect.
Engage in activities that make you feel good in your body, adapting as necessary to suit your current capabilities.
Surround yourself with supportive people who see your inherent wholeness and beauty.

The Power of this Shift
When we move from a mindset of "needing to be fixed" to a heartset of "being open to healing," we create space for profound transformation. This shift allows us to:
Approach our healing journey with compassion and self-love
Reduce stress and anxiety around our health concerns
Empower ourselves to take an active role in our healing process
Cultivate a more positive relationship with our bodies and minds
Open ourselves to healing potentials we might not have previously considered
Remember, this shift is a journey, not a destination. Be patient and kind with yourself as you work to integrate this new perspective.
Embracing Your Healing Potential
The journey from a limiting mindset to an empowering heartset is transformative. By focusing on what's right and embracing the potential for healing, we open ourselves to receive the healing that is our birthright. This approach doesn't deny the reality of health challenges but reframes our relationship with them, allowing us to approach our healing journey from a place of love, compassion, and possibility.
As you continue on your own healing path, I invite you to explore these concepts further. If you'd like to dive deeper into experiencing this heart expansion, I offer guided energy healing meditations that can help open those closed-off places within us and create space for new healing possibilities.
