Overcome Playing It Small: Shift from Self-Doubt to Self-Confident
We have all played it small at some point in our lives. I am finding this is a sensitive subject for many people- including myself! I get it, we all want to be safe and sometimes this can be an illusion of control or acceptance.
Honest confession, as a card-carrying introvert, I struggle with putting myself "out there." It is not easy for me to be in front of a classroom (either in person or online), speak up on a podcast episode, or confront my own self-worth issues.
Playing small has been a habit since childhood for me. It indicates our actions are driven from our fears. It feels reactive and constrictive. Usually, we have forgotten that we are connected to a Greater Source of Love. On a practical level it may look like:
Not sharing an opinion in front of others because of being too seen and vulnerable
Being criticized which derails progress to move forward on a goal or project.
Overly busy. This is a sneaky one because it keeps us less focused on what we truly want.
I'm sure there are many other examples to add to the list.
On the other hand, playing it big means our actions are driven by a sense of purpose. It feels connected to a flow of Energy, a balance of ease and effort. It's not so much about the size of our accomplishments but the heartfelt belief as to why we are stepping into our power.
Although I do not always like putting myself out there, I feel the short-term discomfort and risk are minimal compared to the meaningful opportunities to connect with others on a deeper level and speak my Truth. I sincerely want you to experience this level of freedom to release the ego from fear-based thoughts to feel more like YOU!
